About the designer

Eirini was born and raised under the dazzling blue sky of Greece. At the age of 19 she moved to Paris to study at the École Supérieure de la Mode (ESMOD). In 2002, after a long career in the fashion industry, she started designing costumes for theatre and performing arts. Her unconventional forms and bold use of colours became strongly appreciated by producers, critics and performers. Her costumes appeared in many of Greece’s and Cyprus’ greatest theatres and venues. In 2010, while visiting Paris, she met Yvan, a grumpy flemish technocrat, who gave her butterflies in the stomach. After a few months of back and forth between Greece and Belgium they decided to create a life together in Yvan’s hometown. Moving to Antwerp was not easy. She felt displaced, got homesick, tried different jobs, but never really seemed to fit in.

Home is where I can create. Art is my shelter.
It is the air that I breath, the fuel to my energy
and the key to my freedom.

This experience is exactly why Eirini got so determined to go her own way and inspire others to do the same. It is the reason why Orange Thread is what it is today: A brand by and for strong-minded, brave and unique individuals.
