Designer’s note:
As a designer, I often dreamt of joining forces with another artist, in order to create unique pieces aiming to convey shared emotions and aesthetics. My dream came true when I met NaNaomi, an amazing multicultural paper cutting artist with Japanese and Brazilian roots. Her work was a pure inspiration to me, so you can imagine my joy when she agreed to give me her beautiful jasmine cutouts and granted me the freedom to incorporate them in my designs while constantly exchanging ideas and opinions. I always wanted to create a series of black and white graphic style scarves with pops of colour. NaNaomi’s jasmine cutouts gave me the perfect starting point. On this scarf, the quirky composition of jasmines coming out of tins symbolises our common belief that the perception of beauty should be free from stereotypical preconceptions. After all, as the old wise saying brilliantly puts it ‘beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder’.
Fabric:
This cotton-silk fabric has a shiny finish and a silky touch.
